Geospatial Systems Engineer

Englewood, CO

Geospatial Systems Engineer (Jr. Level)

CompassCom – Denver, CO (Hybrid or Remote Considered)

About CompassCom

CompassCom is a family-owned software company delivering real-time GPS tracking, mapping, and situational awareness solutions for Defense, Military, Public Safety, Petrochemical, Public Works, and Municipal customers across the United States and internationally.

We are a sister company to CompassData, a globally recognized leader in GPS survey and geospatial data production. While CompassData focuses on GIS analysis and data creation, CompassCom designs, builds, and operates the software platforms and systems that deliver geospatial intelligence in mission-critical, cloud, on-prem, and disconnected environments.

Our technology supports real-world operations including wildland fire response, emergency management, tactical communications, critical infrastructure protection, and municipal fleet operations. Although we are a small company, our platforms have a global footprint and are trusted in high-stakes operational environments.

As a family-owned business, we value flexibility, trust, and collaboration. You are not a number here—you are part of a close-knit team where your work has direct impact.

About the Role

CompassCom is seeking a Geospatial Systems Engineer to support and evolve the geospatial platforms that power our software products.

This role focuses on systems engineering, support, and maintenance of Esri and open-source geospatial platforms operating across Azure, on-prem, and disconnected customer environments. The primary objective is to ensure these platforms are reliable, well-tested, thoroughly documented, and operationally sound, while delivering work on time across multiple concurrent priorities.

This is not a GIS analyst or map production role. Instead, this position sits at the intersection of geospatial systems engineering, Esri and open-source platform administration, cloud infrastructure, software testing, documentation, and customer deployment support.

You will support and help maintain CompassCom’s Azure environment as part of a team, but this role will not be the sole owner or administrator of Azure.

You will report to the Director of Product Development and work closely with Software Development, Systems Engineering, the Director of IT, and CompassCom customers to ensure geospatial platforms are integrated, supported, and operating reliably.

Success in this role requires active participation in software testing, the creation of clear and thorough documentation, and the ability to manage priorities and deliver work on time.

This role is well-suited for someone at a junior level in their geospatial or systems engineering career who is ready to take on real responsibility, learn quickly, and grow into broader platform ownership.

While being based in Denver, Colorado is preferred, we will consider the right candidate for a remote role.
