This position requires expertise in traditional GNSS/GPS survey methods as well as mobile mapping (Trimble MX50 and MX60), UAV LiDAR, and terrestrial LiDAR systems. The Field Crew Manager serves as the first line of communication from the field, orchestrating deployment and execution, maintaining technical standards, and ensuring project goals are met or exceeded.

· Manage crews executing mobile mapping with Trimble MX50 and MX60, UAV LiDAR collections, and traditional GPS/GNSS ground control surveys

· Supervise, train, and mentor a team of technical field surveyors to ensure precision, safety, and professionalism

· Enforce field safety protocols, data quality standards, and best practices across all project types

Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting

· Serve as the technical authority on survey equipment, including Trimble, Leica, LiDAR sensors, and UAV platforms

· Support field teams in equipment setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and proper data handling

· Ensure crews are equipped and ready to operate in diverse environments with minimal downtime

Scheduling & Deployment

· Execute the field schedule and plan set by the Project Manager, ensuring crew alignment and equipment readiness

· Manage travel logistics and resource deployment for domestic and international projects

Field Budget Oversight

· Contribute field cost estimates during the bidding process based on project scope, equipment, and timelines

· Manage field-related expenses and ensure operations stay within budget while delivering high-quality results

Training, Innovation & Continuous Improvement

· Lead technical onboarding and ongoing training for field staff

· Conduct performance evaluations and identify opportunities for individual and team development

· Stay up to date on geospatial technologies, equipment trends, and market innovations to ensure CompassData remains a leader in field survey methodologies

· Champion a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement

Communication & Reporting

· Act as the primary communication point between field crews and internal project stakeholders

· Deliver consistent updates on field progress, challenges, and resource needs

· Provide post-project feedback to improve future planning and execution

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

· 5+ years of hands-on experience in geospatial field survey operations

· Proven leadership and supervisory experience in managing survey field teams

· Deep expertise in GNSS/GPS methods, mobile mapping systems (e.g., Trimble MX50/MX60), and UAV/terrestrial LiDAR operations

· Strong organizational, scheduling, and logistical planning capabilities

· Familiarity with QA/QC processes and geospatial data standards

· Strong technical troubleshooting, mentoring, and communication skills

· Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally
